Organized by DSA-LA’s Political Education Committee, Night Schools are an ongoing space to collectively deepen our understanding of socialist concepts, history, and practice in the context of our political work. We welcome new and long-time members alike; each session features a brief, informal presentation followed by facilitated discussion designed to engage all levels and connect theory to ongoing DSA campaigns.
This session focuses on sharpening our understanding of the “relations of production” and exactly why we, as socialists, focus on the working class. Join us if you want to learn more about who Bernie Sanders is referring to (and who he’s not) when he evokes the working class, and why our collective liberation necessarily requires that our demands go beyond social democratic programs (like Medicare for All) that mitigate the harms endemic to capitalism.
While not required, comrades are encouraged to engage with recommended readings in advance: pages 4-28 in the Class on Class Reader.
